This was once an emerald green corduroy blazer that has been altered into a vest/waistcoat. The style is classic and absolutely charming!
Wear this to dress up or down, it doesn't matter. This piece is one of a kind, altered by me, into a timeless piece that's a little bit more versatile than the blazer jacket it once was.
- By The Villager, probably early 1980's - it could even be from the '70's.
- The color is emerald green. It's a vibrant, rich hue, but not overly loud or brash. Very classy! Ideal for St Patrick's Day or Christmas, BUT subtle enough to be worn on an ordinary day too.
- Button down pockets on hip areas.
- Leather buttons which have been re-enforced so they don't fall off.
- Sleeves have been removed and I hand sewed the lining and jacket together to create this vest.
- Deep vent at the back.
- Fully lined in shiny green acetate.
- 100% cotton.
- Dry clean only.
- I added a small, vintage, handmade lace square just coming out of the breast pocket. This can be completely removed if you don’t like it or want to put something else there.
- This vest has been dry cleaned and is ready to wear.
- This is a one-of-a-kind piece!
- I would like to point out that this was the first time I altered a corduroy vest. The fabric was a challenge to work with and furthermore the lining was a little wonky on one side. After getting the left armhole done with a breeze, I wrestled with the right armhole for several hours, taking the stitches out 3-4 times to get it right. The way the lining was sewn in during the manufacturing process was causing the problems. Finally, I was able to get the lining laying just about right (although there is a wee bit of puckering).
I DO take returns and if you feel that this is an issue while you wear the vest, you may absolutely send it back for a full refund of the cost of the jacket after paying return shipping. Once you get a blouse or shirt underneath, the puckering might not even be noticeable. This piece is so wonderful and awesome, that I would encourage you to take the risk which might not end up being a risk at all!!
- Label states that this is a size 10 but it is a bit on the small side and so I suggest you check measurements before considering.
Measurements while buttoned up and laying flat:
Chest (armpit to armpit across bust): 17.5"
Length (from neck to bottom at the back of the vest): 26”
Waist: 17”
